Edamame The Giant Green Soybean from Japan
Edamame, it is called with ‘giant’ coz as you can see edamame looks quite different in size with common soybean. Edamame is originally coming from Japan, and can be easily found in Chinese or Korean restaurants.
As some of us already recognized, soybean can be manufactured into some other products like soymilk, soybean cake (tempe), sweet soy sauce, etc, but the soybean used for those products is not the same soybean as edamame.
Edamame is considered as a tropics plant, and widely used for dish. Edamame contains high protein and believed as a healthy food. No wonder right now edamame is becoming more and more popular in the world.
Soymilk : Low Lactose and Digest Safe
Easily can be seen from the name, soymilk is a milk which is made of soybean as the basic ingredient.
According to some articles, soymilk for fist was manufactured in China. Along with time grows, soymilk then spread throughout Japan. Soymilk started to encounter Southeast Asia after the Second World War.
Soymilk is considered capable of replacing cow’s milk, because they have high protein content as cowmilk. Two glass of soy milk is believed to be capable of meeting the protein needs in a day.
One of the advantages compared, the consumption of soymilk toward cowmilk is that soymilk is low lactose, so it is safe for digestion and for those who are intolerant with cowmilk.
There are generally two kinds of soymilk packaged for sale in the markets. The liquid form and powder one. The liquid appears to be widely sold and marketed. Soymilk is serveable in pure form, without added sugar and taste. But satisfying the public taste, and addition of sugar and essence, as Moca, vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, etc is often taken.
Milk Protein Will Block The Effect of Tea
Consuming milk is good for health, but the bunch advantage of milk will disappear if tea is mixed with milk. A research in German shows that the soothing effect of black tea towards the relaxation of artery will lose if once it is contaminated with milk.
Tea is a drink the most consumed in the world, after water off course. The effects towards human heart is actually depends on eNOS, an enzyme that synthesize nitro-oxide messenger. Tea will increase the activity of eNOS. But if tea is mixed with tea up to 10%, the relaxation effect won’t be seen anymore.
Research by Stangl has shown that casein protein of milk has blocked the effect of tea. This kind of protein has specifically tight the matter of tea , that is catecin, or which is called EGCG. Catecin is a polyphenol, a material which is considered taking responsible for the health effect of tea
