The spreading of Capoeira has taken a long time history and is very much contributed by Mestre. Mestre is a term for Capoeira’s teacher. One of the great Mestre is Mestre Bimba.

Though considered as a martial art which is dominated by agressive movement, Capoeira has a deep philosophy.

In Brazilian language, Capoeira is translated as low grass. This means, a capoeirista must not snob. A Capoeirista must keep their feet on the ground and avoid hostilities toward others.
