Luntas (Indian camphorweed) for Traditional Medication

This plant is called Luntas or sometimes Beluntas in Indonesian. Beluntas (Pluchea indica  (L.) Less.) has a typical scent, with the plant height can reach up to 2m.

beluntas (Indian champoorweed)Beluntas (Pluchea indica L or worldwide known as Indian camphorweed grows in dry area and needs a lot of direct sunshine. In villages and in old days, this Indian camphorweed is used as fence. It has a short leaf in light green color. The flower is small in purple color.

Beluntas contains alkaloid and atsiri oil, and widely used as jamoo (Javanese term to call a certain kind of traditional medication).

The advantages of beluntas are :

•    eliminating body odor ( consumed directly)

•    healing intestine disturbance in children and increasing appetite (10-15 grams leaves mixed in rice/porridge

•    soothing body temperate (braise beluntas leaves, filter and drink)

•    scabies

•    cervical tuberculous lymphadenitisrhemumatic pain and waist pain (5 gr of beluntas root, boiled and drink)
